Investigative commission
The Jobs Creation Commission would be established to investigate and issue a study
related to acquiring and maintaining quality jobs in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. The
eleven members of the Commission are drawn from diverse backgrounds including state government,
academia, labor, unemployed and business. The commission shall report its findings to the
legislature by December 31, 2005.

Comparable initiative
In Michigan, the Council for Labor and Economic Growth was recently created by an executive
order. Michigan’s council has over seventy members who are leaders in labor, business, community
colleges, universities, and other organizations. The council will recommend ways to respond to
Michigan’s changing workforce.
